Green Jobs: How Creating a Strong Green-Collar Workforce Will Save America
America consumes a surprising amount of energy. According to
Solar Energy International, America uses 15 times more energy than other
nations. And even more alarming is that most of the energy comes from
non-renewable resources. This is bothersome because non-renewable resources are
just that, non-renewable. There’s only a matter of time before there are no
resources left. Creating green jobs is the perfect way for America to survive
and thrive without relying on diminishing resources.
The Importance of Renewable Energy
There are several sources of renewable energy. The sun
provides solar energy, the wind provides wind energy, and water provides hydro
energy just to name a few. All renewable energy comes from natural resources.
The advantages and benefits of going green are plentiful:
- Renewable energy is abundant. It provides a steady and stable supply of resources right here in America. As long
as natural resources are used in an environmentally friendly manner, no harm will come to the planet. - Renewable energy is clean and safe. Solar energy, hydro energy, and wind energy are safer and cleaner than any
other energy sources. Currently, most energy is produced by burning fossil fuels which cause air pollution. - Green jobs are created. As more businesses go green, more green jobs become available. The demand for these
jobs can help solve the unemployment problem. Green jobs will also give low-income families a chance to improve their circumstances. - America becomes self-reliant. Reducing America’s dependence on foreign oil and goods will strengthen national
security.
What is Possible with Renewable Energy?
Natural resources can produce powerful energy. Some people
are frightened by the thought of using natural energy, but there’s nothing to
fear. You’ll still be able to use electricity to heat and cool your home, watch
television, and do the things you’re accustomed to.
At one time widespread use of renewable energy seemed out of
reach. The expense of purchasing and installing the equipment was high. Things
are different now thanks to advancements in technology.
You don’t need a million dollars to make use of wind
turbines or solar panels. The government even gives grants to encourage people
to train for green jobs and use green technology in their homes and businesses.
The Green-Collar Sector
The green-collar sector is growing by leaps and bounds. A
lack of workers is the only thing that can stop its growth. People need
training so the green movement can go forward. Read The Complete Green Job
